City of Jefferson PUBLIC UTILITIES WORKER
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Utilities Director, performs duties to include laying water lines, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater lines and taps, manholes, valves, and setting and maintenance of fire hydrants. This position will also be responsible for conducting various street repairs as needed. Open until filled/subject to close without notice. Equal Opportunity Employer. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Knowledge of all safety aspects regarding equipment used to complete assigned tasks
•Knowledge in the use of all tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks
•Skilled in completing projects safely and efficiently
•Ability to use basic hand tools in the performance of the job
•Ability to follow written and oral instructions
•Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other employees
•must possess a willingness to learn and ability to follow written and oral instructions
•Ability to read simple maps and drawings, pick up trash, keeps storage areas clean, orderly, and in safe working conditions
•Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to assigned equipment in the field or as directed
•Ability to work under adverse weather conditions
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Heavy equipment operation experience (backhoe, loader).
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, Motor Vehicle Report check.
A Valid Class C Texas motor vehicle driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Texas Class C Water & Wastewater license
