 Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Jefferson City Council will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 5:30 PM at the Transportation Center at 305 E. Austin Street, Jefferson, Texas, at which time the subjects to be considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are as listed below.  Items do not have to be taken in the order shown on the meeting notice.  Unless removed from the consent agenda, items identified with the consent agenda will be acted on at one time.

Public Comments – Limited to citizens and business owners of the City of Jefferson, must sign up in advance on the list and must limit to 3 minutes conversation.  Jefferson City Council may ask questions but shall not discuss items that are not on the agenda.  On a subject that is not on the agenda a person may add an item to a future City Council Agenda by contacting City Hall a minimum of 5 days prior to a regular City Council Meeting

b. Consider, discuss, and/or approve the Joyce Faye Johnson Application for Building Permit (203 MLK Dr.) (Tabled from April 5, 2022 meeting)

c. Consider, discuss and/or approve removing a live tree located at the Jefferson Masonic Lodge, 310 N. Alley Street, at the City’s expense.

d. Consider, discuss and/or approve Louis Torrans III application for building permit (305 S. Alley St.)

e. Consider, discuss and/or approve a Petition to declare the alley located between Lot 9 and Lot 10 of Block 121 in the Urquhart Addition of the City of Jefferson to be abandoned and closed and to convey to the adjoining property owners

f. Consider, discuss and/or approve a Resolution declaring that the abandoned and closed portion of the alley located between Lot 9 and Lot 10 of Block 121 in the Urquhart Addition of the City of Jefferson to be sold to the adjoining property owners

g. Consider, discuss and/or approve Deed without Warranty for the abandoned and closed portion of the alley located between Lot 9 and Lot 10 of Block 121 in the Urquhart Addition of the City of Jefferson

h. Consider, discuss and/or approve a 30 day extension to the tabled Marion County Chamber of Commerce lease on the usage of the former Jefferson Police Department building on Austin Street.

i. Consider, discuss and/or approve payment for Invoice received from David Lawler Construction, for repairs to the parking lot and storm drain structure.

j. Consider, discuss and/or approve quotes from Longview Lights to Maintain Landscape Lighting ($936.00) or relocate transformer and satellite boxes ($2,200) on the Train Bridge

k. Consider, discuss and/or approve Tourism Department $1,000.00 request for payment to the Opera House Theatre Players for Pioneer Days event booklet

l. Consider, discuss and/or approve Tourism Department $1,000.00 request for payment to the Marion County Chamber of Commerce for Hot Air Balloon Glow Advertising and Balloons

m. Consider, discuss and/or approve Tourism Department $1,000.00 request for payment to the Marion County Chamber of Commerce to help pay for the set-up cost of the new City map

n. Consider, discuss and/or approve Tourism Department $173.00 request for reimbursement for fuel to Preston Taylor for travel to the Home & Garden show in Conroe, TX on March 5 & 6, 2022

o. Consider, discuss and/or approve changing the time of the first Tuesday Special Council Meeting

p. Consider, discuss and/or approve dates for a virtual meeting with TAMU’s Texas Target Community and who will represent on behalf of the City during the virtual meeting regarding the upcoming Comprehensive Strategic Planning.

q. Consider, discuss and/or approve posting a position for the employment of an Administrative Assistant to the City

r. Consider, discuss and/or approve list for 2022 Street Campaign with process and timing for completion.

s. Consider, discuss and/or approve the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church building permit (201 N. Vale St.) ( Tabled from 4/5/22)

t. Consider, discuss and/or approve Tammy Bennett request for reimbursement of payment for two (2) invoices totaling $865.00 for inspection to locate sewer stop up and rotor rooter clean out that was on the city side. (Tabled from 4/19/2022)

9. EXECUTIVE SESSION

The Jefferson City Council reserves the right to adjourn into Executive Session at any time during the Course of the meeting to discuss any of the matters listed above, as authorized by the Texas Government Code.
