REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Jefferson City Council will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 5:30 PM at the Transportation Center at 305 E. Austin Street, Jefferson, Texas, at which time the subjects to be considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are as listed below.  Items do not have to be taken in the order shown on the meeting notice.  Unless removed from the consent agenda, items identified with the consent agenda will be acted on at one time.

Public Comments –

  • Must sign up in advance on the list and must limit to 3 minutes conversation.
  • Jefferson City Council may ask questions but shall not discuss items that are not on the agenda.
  • On a subject that is not on the agenda a person may add an item to a future City Council Agenda by contacting City Hall. The deadline for an item to be placed on an agenda with all corresponding documents for consideration is 5pm the Wednesday before the regularly scheduled meeting.
  • Public Comments will only be taken during the Public Comments section of the agenda.
  • While civil public criticism is not prohibited; disorderly conduct or disturbance of the peace as prohibited by law shall be cause for the chair to terminate the offender’s time to speak.

5. MAYORS COMMENTS

a. Due to a private event, City Hall offices will be closed from 8am – 1pm on Friday, May 24, 2024. Office will be open from 1pm – 5pm for regular business.

a. Planning and Zoning Quarterly Update – Hugh Lewis

7. CONSENT AGENDA (City Council reserves the right to remove items from the Consent Agenda and consider and/or approve individually)

a. Consider and/or approve Monthly Financial Reports.

b. Consider and/or approve a Resolution for Official Action to Authorize Individuals to sign checks on behalf of the City of Jefferson.

c. Consider and/or approve a Resolution Amending Authorized Representatives for TEXPOOL.

d. Consider and/or approve the 42nd Candlelight Tour of Homes event application for December 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th, and 14th  2024.

e. Consider and/or approve Justin Woods resignation without two weeks’ notice to be effective April 26, 2024.

8. ACTION ITEMS

a. Consider and/or approve the Jefferson Salutes America event application to be held on July 4th, 2024.

b. Consider, discuss, and/or approve appointing Mayor Pro-Tem.

c. Consider, discuss, and/or approve the Marion Central Appraisal District 2025 Operating Budget.

d. Consider, discuss, and/or approve Amendment No. 5 Consultant Services Agreement between the City of Jefferson and MuniServices, LLC, for Sales Tax Compliance Review Services and Local Occupancy Tax Program Audit and Administration Services to amend the agreement to extend the term for an additional 1-year period through April 19, 2025, pay consultant a 35% contingency fee, and amend the return filed for each lodging property from $12.00 to $12.60 each.

e. Consider, discuss, and/or approve Allen Wayne Smith’s Application for Building Permit. (409 MLK Duplex 1)

f. Consider, discuss, and/or approve Allen Wayne Smith’s Application for Building Permit. (409 MLK Duplex 2)

g. Consider, discuss, and/or approve Hamid Habibelahian’s Application for Building Permit. (216 River Oaks Dr. Building 1)

i.  Consider, discuss, and/or approve awarding the bid for the repairs to a section of the nature park trail consisting of 532 feet of crushed granite trails by 10 feet wide to be paid for out of the Park Improvements account 01-5920-75-00.

j. Consider, discuss, and/or approve advertising for bids to repair the border and mulch area of the playground at Lions Park.
